After obtaining the NOC, you can now proceed to shift your bike to the new state. There are several options available nowadays for this
- Biker Carrier/ Parcel Companies /Packers and movers: You can hire a professional vehicle carrier service or Interstate Two-wheeler transportation experts to transport your bike safely to your new location.
- Train: If you have enough time and are looking for low-budget moving solutions to relocate a scooter, you can opt to transport bikes via train. You have to make sure you follow the relevant guidelines and paperwork for train transportation.
- Self-Drive: If feasible and convenient according to your health, you can opt to ride your bike to the new state. Keep important documents in your custody.
Re-Registration of Your Bike
If you wish to re-register your bike in a new place, there’s an option for that as well. For e.g To legally ride in Kerala, you’ll need a KL registration if you have a KA (Karnataka) registration. Here’s how:
- First, you have to approach the local RTO office in your new city (e.g., Thampanoor Trivandrum ior nearest RTO ).
- Now, submit an application along with the following documents:
- Form 29 and Form 30 for re-registration, which can be obtained from your previous RTO
- Original Vehicle Registration Certificate (RC)
- Original Pollution Under Control (PUC) Certificate
- Copy or original of the insurance certificate
- Copy of the NOC obtained from the previous RTO
- Chassis Imprint of the vehicle
- Local address proof, like a rental agreement and ID proof
- Applicable charges, including road tax and octroi
That’s all the documents you required. Always note that road tax and octroi charges are calculated by the RTO on the basis on the depreciated value of your bike. The entire re-registration process may be completed in a short period, but in case you face any delays, consider reaching out to the RTO office for updates.
